Your Home and Property, In Good Hands

About Tiny Hearts with Helping Hands

Our Mission

Our main objective is to build a safer community and give back to it. Home repairs, painting, cleaning, and renovations are how we do it. Every job we take helps us support the people in our community who need it most, especially women starting over after domestic violence.

Our Story

Our name started with my young daughter. One day she came home from school and asked if I knew there were people without a home, and people without food. When I said yes, she told me, “I want to make them all lunch.”

So we got to work. We started a GoFundMe, she ran a lemonade stand, and we made YouTube videos to raise awareness. We raised enough to put together 100 care packages with clothing, hygiene products, gift certificates, and food, along with hats and mitts we knitted by hand. A local motorcycle club made 100 more and escorted us through downtown Edmonton as we handed them out. That’s where our name comes from: tiny hearts, with helping hands.

Who We Are

This business came from my own frustration. While I was at home with my kids, working on a renovation of my own home, I found out how hard it was to gather quotes and find contractors I felt safe having in my house, especially with my kids there and me on my own. Too often I felt talked down to. I wasn’t given the full picture, because it was assumed I didn’t know what I was talking about.

I decided that no one should have to go through that. We’re a team of handy women in Edmonton who do repairs, painting, deep cleaning, home renos, and project planning and coordination. I’ve managed maintenance for a 250-unit residential portfolio, and I do most repairs myself, including troubleshooting and minor repairs with electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and appliance work. We explain everything clearly, give you the full picture, and treat you as the expert on your own home. For bigger jobs, we bring in skilled trades only when needed, because every dollar counts.

Trusted Trades, Chosen With You

When a job needs a specialist, we bring in trusted subcontractors from our network of trades. They’re equal opportunity employers, and because we work with them regularly, we can pass along preferred rates to you.

Having someone in your home takes trust. That’s why you can choose between female and male tradespeople, whichever makes you feel most comfortable. On request, you can meet your contractor by video call before they’re booked, so you know who’s coming to your door. Every subcontractor we work with comes with references.

Why This Work Is Personal

I’m also a survivor of domestic violence. I know how much it matters to have a safe, stable home, and how much it means when someone shows up with practical help and treats you with respect.

Giving Back: Safe Home Setup

Through our Safe Home Setup program, we partner with shelters and community organizations to help women get settled in a new home with safety upgrades, painting, cleaning, and setup, at reduced rates or no cost. [Learn more about Safe Home Setup]
